My favorite part?
Lopez, it turns out, is fascinated by Mormons, too. At Yale, one of his teachers, Harold Bloom, told him that "The Lord of the Rings" is very similar to The Book of Mormon.
“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”

It is one way to get people interested in the Book of Mormon.
It may be that some members learn a little more about their church? Kind of like the LDS South Park episode.

"We're bigger authorities on The Book of Mormon than most Mormons," says Parker.
Much like MI apologists are bigger authorities on The Book of Mormon than even Joseph Smith himself.

Well, how extravagant a claim is that really?

Yeah, I think there's much to be said about reading the book objectively without the pretense of the "spirit" guiding a person's "understanding."
And, hell, they've actually read the book. I'm sure that's more than lots of Mormons have done.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

My point exactly.

I don't understand an apologist reaction. You say something that they all know and the want a CFR. Here is my comment about this.
Then look how defensive the apologist gets.
Really interesting. You can check it out here.

Maybe these guys do know more about Joseph Smith and church history then the average Mormon. Most Mormons I know don't know that Joseph put his head in a hat with seer stones in it to translate the Book of Mormon. These guys from south park new that. I'm just speculating so don't call me on a fallacy.
Then look how defensive the apologist gets.
Or maybe, just maybe, you have no idea what you're talking about, have no evidence to support the notion, and the South Park guys "new" and know nothing that isn't pretty well generally known and understood by anybody that cares to go into Church history, Mormon and nonMormon alike.
Let me ask you a question: Who is/are the source of the "head in the hat to block out the light" story? Do you think the South Park guys "new" or know? You think they care? Do you care?
Do you just like to bring it up to be funny?
Is it funny? Are you satisfied with your presentism? Do you care?
Is it unusual for the 1820s-30s? Were people at the time weirded out by it? Source, please?
Really interesting. You can check it out here.

Don't sweat it Rambo. I feel kind of sorry for the person who gets upset by an innocent comment like the one you made. Frankly, the minds who came up with the South Park Mormon episode had far more insight into the faith and more compassion about it, than most people have, LDS people included.
Now, they may not have been right about the lost manuscript, but an ignoramus on the subject does not come up with something like that.
