Several months ago, I started thinking about some of the positive aspects of LDS culture. Are there somethings we could copy? Canning kitchens. Women getting together to work and talk. I mentioned it to several people. Some were resistant to it. "No-one will show up." I saw announcements in the parish bulletin requesting garden excess, and work crews. Because I am planning on moving (again!!), and don't want to invest in relationships at this time, I didn't respond.
Today, we had our annual parish festival. The crafts and baked goods and canned goods area was just full of canned goods. They showed up and produced a lot of stuff!! :) It is very good, because our parish priest got reassigned to another parish, and his hobby is canning (jams, mostly). Well, the women are taking over where he left off. :)
I stayed over, and helped with the cleanup.
See, there are some good things about LDS culture!!
