Little Sister, Big Brother wants to know all...

Post by _Thexriddle »

May be an old topic but...

Verbatim from LDS.org:

"Young women can now do their Personal Progress online—link to scriptures, track progress, submit plans and report completion, and keep their journal securely online. When finished, they can print the entire book, including their journal. Their parents and leaders can approve and track their work. Start now at PersonalProgress.lds.org. "

I think this is purely a convenience move. I don't know how many times my girls lost their personal progress books, or misplaced them at Mutual, and we had to re-replicate goals.

Frankly, I think hosting it online is a great idea.

What do you see as a problem? It's not like the journals were personal; they've always had to be run by leaders and parents.

Hello Thexriddle,

This is truly disturbing and no doubt at some point, this material will be available to the SCMC, which means it will also be available to apologists contracting with the SCMC.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

The term "journal" implied personal, private information to me...

No idea what goes on in current YM/YW organizations as I've not really been part of the LDS Church for a couple of decades.

It's not personal or private. That isn't the intent. It's documentation of the progress of the girl's projects. Some of it may be spiritual (ie... read seminary scriptures today), some of it may be communication (ie... was nice to Sis J, even though she wasn't nice to me), some of it may be of a more practical nature (ie... tried my first batch of bread today. Water too hot, killed yeast, so it didn't rise. Note to self... tepid means warm, not hot).

Yes, we all know journals are not personal or private and that is who lds-inc makes all those donated and found open to the public to read and learn from.

Out of curiosity, are traditional diaries encouraged, discouraged, or ignored in the YW program, etc., as a means to deal with truly personal/private issues?

Can someone explain to me what is the purpose of these journals and what are these young women keeping track off? These goals and what not.
