I never liked McConkie. He was the most pompus ass the world has ever produced. But because he was honest I finally came to respect him.

My goodness...the judge of the world has found for us the more pompous dude ever. How exciting we have a judge that has outdone even God Himself. Good for you. Where do I rank on the list, by the way? It may not be too late for me, but someone needs to tell me.

I agree that it's hyperbole to say McConkie was the most pompous ass ever. He may have been pompous, but I'm sure we can think of more pompous people.

But wait a sec, you presumed to judge whole world and found the DCP himself is the most arrogant man who has ever graced this planet, and you seem to have deemed BRM somewhere near the top. if you can't even suggest what your judgement is on me, then how can you deem them the most arrogant of all? Are you just being extremely arrogant and talking about something you don't know about?

See, even we can agree? he did seem arrogant in a lot of ways. I don't deny that. Then again, i simply don't know if he's more arrogant then some others I've encountered in my day, in and out of the chuch.

I think McConkie should have given a lot of credit to others for his thoughts. His thoughts about grace, love and faith came from protestants. His thoughts that the C ________ church was the whore of Babylon came from 17th century protestants. His thoughts about God came from Joseph Smith. Maybe he did give credit which would have been a positive thing for him. He did have a have some issues (like everyone) and some would say it was narcissism. That letter he wrote to that educator revealed a lot. You would think as someone got older in life they would move away from that type of behavior. It's probably better for the LDS church that when an apostle reaches age 75 they give him a nice Rolex watch a one bedroom condo and a monthly check and escort him to the door singing for he's a jolly fellow. This is a way for good people to keep power in check. I would give all new GA's a Harley and one of those big couple ton diesel trucks - the American made ones. They could take a week retreat to South Dakota each year. If they got angry or thought they needed to exert a little power they could just take a ride.

stem,

Maybe you could give examples of others that you believe to be more pompous than BRM or DCP--in or our of LDSdom, it doesn't matter. Then others could chime in on the comparison.

Looking forward to whom stem will cite as more arrogant,

Not really my cup o tea...sorry. I admit I have found many that seem to be quite arrogant to me, but I have no personal ill will towards them to the point of starting some thread about them. With that said, i think attempting to embarrass DCP by saying he's the mostest arrogant person ever is only going to help swell his head, coming from someone around here.

I'll leave the rich irony that you and others display in this thread in your court.

stem, you disappoint. Never would have guessed you'd come into a thread, challenge assertions utmost but when called on to give examples of more arrogant individuals than those named, you'd take a powder.

Maybe it's because you've strained and strained, but still cannot think of anyone more arrogant than BRM or DCP.

you misunderstood my participation in this thread. I merely mock the assertion that anyone here can presume, in such arrogance, to name th emost arrogant people on the planet, without recognizing how arrogant it is they would do so. I mean you don't see BRM or DCP naming people th emost arrogant people who ever lived do you? they don't presume such arrogance.

Maybe it's because you've strained and strained, but still cannot think of anyone more arrogant than BRM or DCP.

Indeed. I came here to mock the irony that was established from the 1st post. Since it was mocking a now deceased man I thought mocking was the order of the game. then you appeared and wished to mock a living professional. I figure the concept of mocking was fair game.

I mock because I love. I hope people see the error of their ways.
