Hardly. Nothing in the New Testament could ever be used to support this Mormonesque twist, and you know it.
Really?
Why don't we begin with John 3:16.
We have an interesting statement in Gen 2:16:
Of every tree...thou mayest freely eat...
Matt. 24:14
Hebrews 11:25
Luke 6:47
Luke 10:42
Romans 6:16
Romans 6:17
Romans 10:16
Galatians 5:1
Galatians 5:7
Hebrews 5:9
Acts 5:29
1 Peter 1:22
1 Corinthians 7:22
James 4:17
Matthew 7:26
Luke 6:49
Revelation 22:11
James 4:7-8:
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Perhaps the most clearly expressed statement in the Bible regarding the concept of free agency and our fundamental freedom to "list to obey" whatever influences we desire, is of course Joshua 24:15:
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Well, of course we could go on and on and on. I do suspect that the reason Kevin specified only the New Testament is because, as he knows, the Book of Mormon and D&C are loaded with explicit references to our essential freedom to choose and its centrality in the gospel plan.
It is why you never provide any New Testament scripture to back up your claim. Neither does bcspace.
I just did (in highly truncated form).
He has to rely on some obscure Institute manual written by God knows who...
Kevin, take your temperature and get some rest.
The fact is Christ told us what to believe and how to act, with no leeway to "govern yourself" in ways contrary to the Gospel.
This is so conceptually vague and confused as to be unintelligible. As I have no idea what you're attempting to say, I won't respond to it.
