Shall we talk about the harassment I have received over the years here regarding my personal life and sexual orientation, and the part you played in that?

To be fair, that's a good question. Why people were ever so after Wade about his orientation, thinking it an insult to say he's gay, was beyond me (and I haven't seen it over the years just over the past few months). It surely was going out of bounds to put it mildly.

I tend to agree.

Wenglund's posts can reasonably be mocked if on occasion they merit such treatment: he does after all choose to post in Terrestrial, and if he wants to assure a consistently respectful reception he can move up to Celestial.

If what we knew of his personal situation was grossly discordant with what he posted here, one might also make fun of that situation - if, for instance, he made great play of how all women were bowled over by the charms of a middle-aged LDS bachelor, but clearly had no contact with women outside the internet. But that does not appear to be the case.

So (as in the case of the Nehor) I don't find myself very interested by references to his life off this board. (I don't find myself very interested by much about him, actually, but that is not the point of this post.)

[Edited to add - I didn't realize wade has been offensive about gay people. If he makes a habit of that, it may well indicate suppressed feelings of a kind he can't cope with any other way, and I don't object to people calling him on that.]

I doubt anyone went after him. All this "off forum" stuff seems pretty convenient since it cannot be verified. I never got the sense from any of wade's critics that they really cared about his private life. It was more about ribbing him for his ridiculous homophobia.

This is all from memory for me and I'm not going to dig into it at all, but it seems to me Wade was hassled for being gay when the topic of homosexuality wasn't even part of the discussion. Perhaps the posters who did so, if my memory is right on that, were treating hm that way because of his views on homosexuality, but I didn't get that impression as the time. I just thought it odd that someone would say he's gay and make many references to that, as if that was some sort of insult in and of itself. Oh well.
