Besides going to church every Sunday, Jabari attends an LDS seminary school two mornings a week before beginning his day at Simeon. That would help explain why he is prone to taking three-hour naps, but he and his parents believe it's a worthy sacrifice. "Can you imagine how positive that is?" Lola says. "You start your day thinking about things we don't normally think about. Like gratitude, like how there is a Creator, how we should act toward one another. All those simple principles help mold who we should become."
I never really thought of seminary that way, but for me, it was good to spend every morning with people who accepted me and cared about me. At school I was pretty much an outcast with few friends, but at church I felt at home.
As a BYU alum, I hope he'll at least give BYU consideration, but it sounds like this kid is probably destined for a more big-time program.

Only two mornings a week!! Hell, I could have handled that easily (especially if one of those mornings included donuts). I had to go to early morning seminary every day. I took my nap every day at school after lunch usually during English or History class. I'm sure my teachers thought I was doing drugs at lunch time. Not once ever did I have a positive outlook on seminary when my alarm went off at 5:15am. Quite the opposite.
Interesting that young Jabari has no intention of serving a mission while in college. I guess he'll be putting his NBA career on hold for that. Yeah....right.
Red flags look normal when you're wearing rose colored glasses.
