Dispelling the Myths surrounding our Elders and Practices

Post by _moksha »

I understand that LDS Apostle J. Reuben Clark used to hand out The Protocols of the Elders of Zion to people he would meet. Church leaders currently use the more up to date Bishop's Handbook of Instruction, but that cannot be given out to the general public, lest they misunderstand what we do.

So where does that leave us? Why not bring back the The Protocols of the Elders of Zion in order to let others know what our Elders are up to here in Utah. This could assist in normalizing our public image, like in the "I am Mormon" commercials.

Every little bit helps.

Please help my faded Mormon memory. Is there an old Mormon text I do not remember of the same name as the well known antisemitic book? Is your post all irony?

Wait, I think you are right. The Protocols of the Elders of Zions was an anti-jewish book and a fraudulent pack of lies to boot.

So what was up with J. Reuben Clark and handing this book out?

Oh, my 88 year. old dad drags out his bishop's handbook regularly just to show me how human bishops are, and how they act not in accordance with the doctrine. I don't know what's worse. Doctrine that you cannot live with, or condescending bishops.
