Why Are LInks Opening in Same Tab/Window?

Seeing how Tabbed Browsers have been around for over a decade now why do links at MD open in same page? If the administrator sets them to open in a new window then it will open in new tab for those of us who are not frickin' dinosaurs. Come on MD it's not 1998. ^_~

Just press the "Ctrl" button as you click on a link. Presto! New tab.
