Does Mormon polytheism make us more accepting?

I have a good friend who is planning to marry. He is a Christian from India and his girlfriend is newly converted to Christianity from Hindu. Her parents want them to get married Hindu style and his parents want a Christian style wedding.

In an effort to make both families comfortable, the couple suggested to their parents that they have two weddings - one Christian and one Hindu. The Hindu family was willing to accept those terms but the Christian family will not have it. To the Christian family, implementing Hindu traditions in a Christian wedding ruins the whole experience.

I asked my friend why Hinduism is more accepting. He replied with, "Because Hinduism is polytheistic." I reminded him that Christianity is too but that I understand his point. Believing in many gods makes a person more accepting of other beliefs?

Mormonism is like Hinduism in that the theology includes many gods (i.e. Abraham is god per D&C 132). Is Mormosim more accepting of other faiths since they are polytheistic like the Hindus?

I think Mormonism is a little hostile towards protestantism (and used to be hostile toward Catholicism), but to me has always seemed more open minded about Eastern religion.

This was more true during the reign of the swashbuckler, Brigham Young, than it is today. Please consider these points:

1. There are many gods living right now who can hear your prayers. Prove me wrong!
2. Many of these gods are Mormons from our recent past: Joseph Smith, Sarah Pratt, Helen Kimball (bless her heart), and very possibly, our king of doctrine, the late Bruce McConkie.
3. A belief in many gods makes it easier to accept the possibility that more exist (i.e. Krishna, Apollo, etc.).
4. Believing in many, other gods from foreign religions makes it easier to accept the traditions of other cultures, even in a religious setting.
5. A polytheistic Mormon Christian is more likely to accept a Hindu wedding than a monotheistic Christian believer.
