Paris Mormon Temple vs. Musée du Louvre...

Post by _zeezrom »

My Facebook friend went to Paris and was more impressed with the Mormon temple than the Louvre. For shame!

He was so excited about visiting the Mormon temple while in Paris, he had to post about it. There was no other word about his trip at all. Just the temple. I was shocked and replied, "You were in Paris?! Please tell me you went to the Louvre."

He replied with, "Yeah, I went there and it's overrated."

Being Paris, there is probably more nudity in the temple video. And without a doubt, there will be a scene with a cigarette-smoking Lucifer just prior to him making sweet, sweet love to Eve.

I'd say that would compete with the Louvre, oui?

Well, maybe your friend likes religion more than art. That's sort of an apples and oranges comparison.

For an apples to apples comparison, unless the the Paris Temple knocks the socks off of any other Mormon Temple that I've been to (SLC, Jordan River, Provo, Ogden, Logan, Idaho Falls, and Manti), then the Paris Temple pales in comparison to two churches I have visited when in Paris, the Sacré-Coeur Basilica and the Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris. Both are stunningly beautiful. No Mormon architecture compares.

I agree. It's overrated as most tourist destinations are.

Zee. what is a Facebook and why would anybody want to see a Mormon temple in Paris.?
I was thinking that without a percentage of the population being blind to art then museums could get too crowded to enjoy.

Perhaps there were crowds. Paintings being all obscured by backs of heads and shoulders.Groups haggling, rush rush "onlyfourteen more rooms to see!"." Mommy I want to see ducks in the ponds."

Does that answer the question, why see a Mormon temple? Well not for me. I could suppress a lot of distraction to enjoy the Louvre.

Is the temple in Paris already completed? They just announced in October 2011.

This website suggests that the temple is under construction.

He is single so no kids to distract him. He could have spent a day looking at just a couple of things. You know, maybe 17th century paintings or something? Something you would not see anywhere else in the world? Maybe go at night and see the place lit up? At lunch, head over to the Joan of Arc statue or sit along the banks of the Seine or something. Anything. I mean, this is your one chance to go to Paris, man! Paris!

Ok, so maybe he isn't into art.

Sock Puppet, I will ask him if he visited those religious places and see what he says.

This is so disappointing.

One doesn't have to be into art to enjoy the Louvre. History rests there.
