I'm sipping green tea while sitting at home working. The snow is crazy and everyone is working from home today. It makes for a great time to be drinking green tea. While drinking, I looked up the caffeine content.
Green tea = 25 mg of caffeine
and for comparison:
A typical chocolate candy bar = 40 mg caffeine Coka cola classic = 35 mg caffeine
Of all the Mormon bans, this one takes the cake. I mean, where would cricket be without tea? I could see most General Authorities really getting into cricket.

The tea ban is strange. The strangest part is that herbal tea is allowed, but tea from tea leaves is not.
In early Utah the sisters got in trouble with the brethren for announcing that they were having "tea" at so-and-so's house. LMAO If I recall correctly, I read about that in an old Deseret News.

I guess it's the logical conclusion you come to after realizing herbal (non caffeinated) tea is okay and the other is banned.

A bishop once explained to me that the WoW is not about health, it's about obedience. He explained the danger of using it as a health guide. For example, when it came out that drinking red wine in moderation was actually healthy, then those members who thought the WoW was a health guide would have their testimonies shaken. But if you treat the WoW as a commandment, then you will never have your testimony shaken, no matter what new discoveries are made. I suppose that makes sense.
