My Book

Post by _Runtu »

I hope this is OK to post, but I thought you might want to know that my book is finally available in paperback from Amazon and Barnes and Noble. (B&N is cheaper for some reason.)

I was sorry to read on the Barnes and Noble site that the author had died in 1994.

It's particularly sad that he died long before his book was published.

I hope there is a back story about the yellowed manuscript, bound with thick rubber bands, being discovered in a dusty attic by the beloved son who published it to pay off a lien against the family farm.

Nope, the back story concerns a manuscript that almost caused a divorce, so it was shelved for a few years. Miraculously, I'm still married, and my wife asked me, in the end, to put her name back in the dedication.

An author dying before his book was published is well within the realm of possibility.

If the author had died long before his book was written, well, there's a story!

Congratulations on all counts!

You'd never guess that he is 90 - his avatar on this board makes him look like a young fellow.

Great! I just can't get into the electronic book thing.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

John Williams (1922-1994) was born and raised in northeast Texas. Despite a talent for writing and acting, Williams flunked out of a local junior college after his first year. He reluctantly joined the war effort, enlisting in the Army Air Corps, and managing to write a draft of his first novel while there. Once home, Williams found a small publisher for the novel and enrolled at the University of Denver, where he was eventually to receive both his B.A. and M.A., and where he was to return as an instructor in 1954.
