Any possibility this is a premature cackle?

First, I'm not an apologist, and I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't make that mistake again. Second, here's the quote:

Where did I ever assert "it's true"?

Here's the context:

The Mighty Builder wrote:Historical Evidence

If you understand the truthfulness of Mormonism you MUST believe where no evidence, history, supportive documentation, logic, etc. exists. How WONDERFUL this is. Faith and Faith alone makes Mormonism true.

Whereas every other Christian Religion is bogged down by support evidence like historical sites, supportive documentation, etc. Poor Bastards!

Hooray for Horny Holy Joe and the Establishment (er, I mean Restoration) of his No Evidence Religion!

maklelan wrote:While mainstream Christianity obviously has evidentiary support for the existence of the cultures described in the Bible, I find the notion a bit naïve that their religion, as a result, is at all better off. There's no evidence in any corner of the universe that at all legitimizes any of the supernatural truth claims of the Bible. In that regard, both Mormonism and the wider Christian community depend exclusively and entirely on a leap of faith.

The Mighty Builder wrote:The Second Poster in this Post has brought up the oft used Mormon tactic "It is True because there is No Evidence Proving its NOT TRUE", thus once again violating the laws of evidence and Burden of Proof.

And then my quote:

maklelan wrote:Where did I ever assert "it's true"?

It's self evident that I was asserting that all religions rely on faith. I was not asserting that any such premise indicates, in and of itself, that any particular religion was true. For this reason, when The Mighty Builder barked that I was insisting "It is True because there is No Evidence Proving its NOT TRUE," I pointed out that I said absolutely no such truth claim. I was simply pointing out that the notion that mainstream Christianity is "bogged down" by evidence, in contrast to Mormonism, is completely untrue.

I truly wish people who never attempt religion would stop pretending that they do.

Man! When anyone obeys the commandment of Christ to come unto him with full purpose of heart that he might make them his sons and his daughters that is the only thing that counts for true religion. So it is the only evidence that counts.

I hate the analogy but its like science only pretending to know how things work without ever demonstrating it. There is plenty of reasons to have faith that there is a God and that the gospel is true. But knowing and having the evidence is only in working the commandments or laws that actually accomplish it.

It's like I can only here the bawling and tantrums of infants and little kids. Man!

If I were to go down to Colombia and Peru and prove the Book of Mormon true uncovering empirical evidence you can put in museums and stand upon and touch with your hands is anyone going to suddenly come unto Christ? Maybe in the rising generation.

If I recall correctly, Makelan is an adult convert?

Why on earth would any cognitive logical adult accept the BS of LDS Inc is beyond me.

Its been a while Makie, was this due to your current wife or past girl friend being LDS?

If you don't mind, please refresh us on why an intelligent, logically thinking, cognitive adult like yourself would join a corporate church such as LDS Inc.

It's maklelan (with an "L"), and yes, I was baptized when I was 20.

Well, why someone would think the phrase "cognitive logical adult" would make them sound intelligent enough to presume to condescend to another adult is even further beyond me, but I'm the idiot here, right?

Can you explain why an intelligent, logically thinking, cognitive adult like yourself can see no reason for someone joining the church AS an adult? As for me personally, my upbringing was such that the family centered aspect of the church was enough to entice me to join. I was in it for 14 years and am a better man because of it. The church isn't ALL bad but there does come a point where it can definitely become more unhealthy than healthy. That point depends, I believe, on an individual's starting point. It's possible to come into the church at the bottom and leave through the top and benefit from the experience.

We each have our own story and our own life experience of learning. An adult can understand that concept. You might consider giving that some thought Mr. Porter. By the way...I love your beer.
