I disagree on this point. Expression and exchange of ideas does accomplish something very valuable, something eminently useful. Such as your post.
Just a quick question for EmilySmith. Do you work? What percentage of your income do you give away to strangers each month?
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

It is a shame that EmilySmith will have to pay for strangers, whatever her source of income.
The government is just wasting all that money for roads and bridges that even the unworthy poor can use. Providing Social Security and Medicare for the elderly that have outlived their usefulness. A National Defense that even protects Black and Brown people (not to mention Jews).
You're right, ajax. Things were much better in the middle ages when the only recourse for needy people was to die, which relieved the financial burden that decent people had to bear.
You're so wise.

Quasimodo are you a worldwide socialist? Do you think the money in the world should be divided up and distributed by the U.N. according to what the authorized U.N. official views as need?

I'm surprised to find you posting right now, ajax. Shouldn't you be working to pay for all our entitlement checks?
I think that roads, bridges, airports (infrastructure), etc. should be funded by taxes because we all use them. I think that the poor and underprivileged should be given a hand up. I think that starving (dying) people in underdeveloped counties should be helped. I think that no one should be denied health care.
The U.N. does a pretty good job in helping where it can.

What percentage of your income do you give to help these people Quasi?

Gee, ajax. What are you asking? I really don't know how much of my taxes go to infrastructure. I do know that some of the prices I pay for gasoline are taxes that pay for road maintenance in my State. I know that a large part of my income tax goes to National Defense. I do contribute to a few charities such as "Meals on Wheels" that distribute hot meals to elderly people that are unable to fix their own. A few others, as well. I have donated my time to others.
Does it matter?

I'm just saying that nothing is stopping anyone from giving more if they feel really strongly about it? It just doesn't look like someone of high morals like yourself gives much more than a cold hearted person like myself. Why is that?
