The Dehlin flood

Post by _RockSlider »

It sounds like the traffic that hit the MAD board over the various Dehlin threads was very large (enough to have disrupted service, with the ISP actually taking them down for a while).

I assume traffic here also spiked, but not to the magnitude of what MAD saw.

It's easy enough to speculate that most of the MAD regular traffic checked in here, and that various "critic" board regulars checked in there. However, I assume a much larger number than the normal cross traffic hit the boards over this.

Who do you think they were? How large is the group that may follow Dehlin but are not normally found in the various regulars reading spaces?

I made one of the only relevant posts there. I have to agree with Will about leading the sheep to ambush.

Well that's interesting, but I was wondering about demographics, suggesting a couple:

1. regular critic communities
2. regular defender communities
3. Dehlin only community
4. Other (i.e. Facebook, Time mag exposure in the Mormon Moment etc)?

Of course the large spike is not accounted for in 1 and 2 (even though your post was so wonderful). I wonder if 3 accounted for the major part of the spike … or was it something else.

Sounds like the FAIR/MI joint mission statement.
