Standing up for my faith

I've shared this story before, but never in light of my revelation.

Just before leaving on the mission, I was at a movie theater with my parents and little sister watching Pelican Brief. Near the beginning, there is a scene in a movie theater where a guy is watching a gay porn and you hear the sounds of a sexual act. I was immediately disturbed, elbowed my sis that we should leave, stood up, and left the theater. My sister followed me out and we sat in the car for the rest of the film.

I felt so high for standing up for my faith. I felt so prepared for my mission. My dad still talks about the event like I was a spiritual superstar.

Now for the hypocrisy.

Just two years before this, I watched Dances with Wolves and never thought to leave the movie during the awesome scene in the teepee. Two years before that, I pretended to be asleep while my parents watched Pretty Woman. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Mr. Richard and Ms. Julia together in multiple scenes.

I just had a revelation. I was not standing up for my faith when I walked out of that theater. I was disturbed due to my fear and repulsion of homosexuals acting out on what I considered prescribed under strict laws of conformity.

I could say more and i could say it better but I'm out of time. Hopefully I made sense to you.

Like all the other peeps in the theater would not see that? Stupid Hollywood.
