46% ?

Post by _ludwigm »

I'd like to know if Gallup is right here.

PRINCETON, New Jersey wrote:Forty-six percent of Americans believe in the creationist view that God created humans in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years. The prevalence of this creationist view of the origin of humans is essentially unchanged from 30 years ago, when Gallup first asked the question. About a third of Americans believe that humans evolved, but with God's guidance; 15% say humans evolved, but that God had no part in the process.

The poll seems to not work.
The reply to my own vote was : "The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again."

Can anybody help?

Ludders, I think you need another option:

4. You have no firm idea on where humans came from except it wasn't from a man and woman named Adam and Eve who lived in a garden in Missouri circa 6,000 years ago.

Yeah, that's right. It's floated around that number since it started being consistently measured in the early 80's.

Please pardon my pedantry (I have a quota): the phrase "from less advanced forms of life" should not appear in the poll choices.

46% sounds about right. On the whole, we can be a staggeringly ignorant bunch.
