Recently, President Newsroom announced that the LDS Church (COB/FP/12 included) did not understand the reasons why blacks were banned from the priesthood until 1978.
Either the 'policy' (in FP statements prior to 1978, it was declared as 'doctrine', commanded directly from god) was divine or it was fabricated by the COB/FP/12. If the current COB/FP/12 don't really understand it, then either
they (TSM, BKP, etc) were willing without understanding to continue policies that their COB/FP/12 predecessors started (throw their predecessors under the bus, but also themselves for having perpetuated a policy without understanding it), or
they place it at the feet of the divine (throw elohim/jehovah under the bus)
It must be reassuring to TBMs that ask how high when the COB tells them to jump that the COB/FP/12 don't understand until the time they finally realize the policies they have been blindly perpetuating on TBMs are bunk.
And, lo, the people cried unto the prophet, saying in a loud voice, "Go up to the mountain, and inquire of the Lord whence this doctrine cometh."
And it came to pass that Spencer did humble himself and offer up mighty prayer unto the Most High God, saying, "Father, blessed be thy name. Straight are thy paths and wise thy counsels. If thou wilt, make known unto thy servant wherefore thou hast decreed that our brethren of Africa shall have no part in thy holy priesthood."
And it came to pass that the Lord answered, saying, "Beats me."

What about all those poor members who hang on to their past racist beliefs as doctrine? They are stuck with "We just don't know why" when asked to explain their beliefs. In the old days you could point to the Bible and the Book of Abraham and say "don't blame me, it's what the scriptures say". No more reminiscing about how we were the valiant ones in the pre-existence, or how the fact you had to use a SPF 50 every hour was a sign of how righteous you were.
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

Some people like our bcspace cling tenaciously to the racism of the past despite the church's best efforts to put it behind them.

What about the members prior to 1978 who were disciplined and/or shunned and called apostate Luke warm cafateria Mormons because they had the guts to speak up and say the church was wrong and they would not support a racist doctrine or church leaders who taught racists doctrines?
Did the church ever apologize to them?
That is what you call getting thrown under the bus.

You seem to be suffering from a lack of reading comprehension or Fortigurn's Lazy Research. The doctrine remains that the ban was from God. It has always been the case that we don't know exactly why. It has never been the case that the ban fits into the category of racism.

This is of course a blatant lie. The First Presidency explained why in 1949.
It has never been the case that the ban fits into the category of racism.
You're a damned idiot.

You know as well as everyone else here that the FAIRisees and DANCPites disagree with you and would ban you for posting against their pet theories.
Here is President Uchtdorf throwing Daniel C. Peterson and his secret combination under the bus:

Given that the FP has no idea why the ban was instigated in the first place (see Newsroom statement) you cannot say it wasn't racist. The best you can say, in terms of reflecting the Church's official position, is that you don't know if it was racially motivated or not.
