Healthcare reform & FSA 2013 max. contribution
for what it's worth, I got notice today that due to O'bama's healthcare reform, the maximum amount for 2013 that can be contributed to a FSA account is $2,500 rather than the current $5,000.

Yeah, that was a widely discussed provision of the law at the time.
Here's an article on its rationale:

Yes. FSA and other similar benefits are anathema to the Democrats because they return more than a dollar for every dollar cost.

how do tax breaks on medical spending make a return? never heard that one before.
by the way, aren't you supposed to be against tax breaks now? i mean c'mon -- you want a government handout to help cover your medical expenses? why not take responsibility for your life instead?

on a related note, i recently got a letter from my employer explaining that our health insurer would be sending us refund checks to comply with the Obamacare rule that they have to spend at least 85% of our premiums on healthcare.

Refund checks on health care premiums you paid are just veiled welfare.
