Question about Monterrey Mexico mission...

Post by _Blixa »

A friend of a friend's son was recently called to a mission in Monterrey. Because the area is known as such an epicenter of narco-violence, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about current missionary experience there. I know that Monterrey is a huge city, large enough to have several mission homes, so I suppose which one a missionary is assigned to could make a difference in terms of quality of life.

My only personal knowledge of Monterrey comes from a friend of mine whose rather well-off family owned houses and property in Monterrey. Last year they finished selling off all their Monterrey properties and moving to Mexico City because of the violence, becoming part of the professional "brain drain" in Monterrey that one reads about.

Anyway, I'm interested in any feedback about serving in Monterrey.
