I am all for challenging ossified norms but I can't pretend that any amount of viagra could overcome the days long effect of this kind of dress --at least for me (I think I can speak for essentially all of my male associates as well). The pale emaciated aspect of those models makes it even worse.

(I keep thinging how beautiful are the naturally emerging patterns of gender the cosmos throws up in its its dance. I'd rather play along than fight it most of the time. And, well,...gender equality !=gender erasure.
Of course, that cosmic dance is just as often monstrous I suppose.)

Then again, obviously somebody likes it--I guess.

How about a totally different direction? Just for fun, lets aim to make "slut" a compliment and associate it reflexively with intellect, charisma and charm. Then let's have a "wear a miniskirt to church" movement. No? Yeah OK......right...sorry...how juvenile and boorish of me to say that.....but why exactly?

Women are not there for your sexual gratification. Why does it even matter to you if they are sexually attractive to YOU or not? You are not their lover. You have no chance at sex with either one. So why do you feel obligated to say you are not sexually attracted to them in such a vile manner?

Most men dress like sloppy slobs. Do I mention it to them? Nope. Why? Because it's none of my business. Most men I know are overweight and/or they never exercise. Do I say anything to them about it? Nope. Why? Again, not my business. I'm not their sex partner and I'm not their doctor.

Zeus forbid any woman in the world not be sexually attractive to you!

Wow. Why the attack? All he was saying is, as a man, he doesn't find that attractive. Those models were posted as an example of pants that look good on women and he doesn't agree. I actually like the outfits, but I can understand if someone doesn't like them.

No. I posted a picture of women who were not conforming to gender stereotypes. No where did I say anything about the look being sexually attractive of looking good (whatever good is).

Tarski attacked these model's sexual desirability and physical attractiveness in a way that was completely inappropriate. "No amount of Viagra???" What the serious “F”? That was totally uncalled for.
Not only do they dress wrong, they are too white and too thin. (I guess he missed the part where they have tons of makeup on to accentuate the hollows of their cheeks and who knows what's been done with airbrush)

And what the hell are "naturally emerging patterns of gender?"

I remember thinking you looked healthy when we met--about as much as me and I run for over an hour 3-4 times a week.

When I see fit men I wish I had muscles so I could be like them.

Well, you did say you would totally dress like that, which suggests that you like the outfit. While Tarski's comments may have been immature, I think he was simply trying to say he doesn't like the outfit. Models aren't judged by how well they break down gender stereotypes. When you post a picture of models modelling a line of designer clothing, our instinct is to judge the attractiveness of the ensemble, not to make social commentary. Models aren't hired for their brains and social consciousness. Maybe it's inappropriate in the context of the thread, but I don't think he meant any harm by judging the attractiveness of those outfits and the models.

If I was to post a picture of a guy in a kilt, and a female said something along the lines of "Sorry, that picture doesn't get my juices flowing. I prefer my men to be real men. Wrangler butts drive me nuts. And I hate pale blonde guys." I wouldn't think anything of it other than she doesn't like men wearing kilts, and she isn't attracted to blondes.

Which means Tarski's comments were directly aimed at me. That is creepy, rude and inappropriate.

That fact that you don't think models are used to make social commentary speaks volumes.

And "maybe" it was inappropriate in the context of this thread? MAYBE?!?!

In what situation would this be an appropriate reaction to a photograph of a man in a kilt? REAL MEN?!?!?! What the hell?????

If I put up a picture of a black man and someone said he was too black and that was a huge turnoff to them would people not find that offensive and inappropriate?

I prefer cafe au lait morenas over fair skinned blonds, though I am one. Is that offensive?

I personally don't see one's preference in skin tones, hair and eye coloring, and body shape offensive unless motivated by race. Shallow maybe, but offensive no.

I also don't like the extremely skinny models in the Sherlock Holmes outfits. I do not like the gaunt look. Is that offensive? None is meant, it is just the honest statement of my preference.

In my social circles that would be a relatively normal reaction (exaggerated slightly for effect) Not that they necessarily hate blondes or prefer wranglers, or "real men", but women can be just as superficial as men. And the women who like men in kilts might say the picture is hot. Maybe some women would comment on the social commentary of the photo, "Ohhh, look at that he's breaking down social barriers," but really, I can't think of any women I know who would. But then I hang out with people who call each other bitch, whore, and dickhead as terms of endearment, so you and I probably won't agree on what are appropriate and inappropriate social customs. :)

People would, but that's because we aren't supposed to judge people by their race.

You don't see any difference between what you just typed and saying about a particular woman "no amount of Viagra could ever get it up for me when looking at her?"

This thread was not about what any man here sexually prefers! Don't you see that? Neither was that other thread where you commented about what women "should" look like.

The fact that on a thread about women taking the opportunity to wear pants to a patriarchal, sexist church brought about comments on how that wasn't sexually desirable to a man is incredible. I don't know if I want to cry or scream more.

The additional fact that people seem to think sexually objectifying a woman because her career choice as a model makes me just want to give up.
