A White Plains residence pinpointed on a controversial handgun permit database was burglarized Saturday, and the burglars' target was the homeowner's gun safe.

At least two burglars broke into a home on Davis Avenue at 9:30 p.m. Saturday but were unsuccessful in an attempt to open the safe, which contained legally owned weapons, according to a law enforcement source. One suspect was taken into custody, the source said.

Brother Space, in his trolling zeal, forgot to notice the question mark at the end of the headline he linked.

So these "journalists," without any evidence at all that the burglars used the published database information, frame the story by asking if they did so, thus implying that it's a fact.

It's a classic Fox tactic, where they mislead by forming questions. "Obama worse than Hitler?" Hey, they're just asking the question, not making any claims. They also love to use the vague attribution, "some are saying..." Yeah, they just heard each other say it in the break room.

The homeowner's name and address were included recently on the controversial interactive map of gun permit holders in Westchester and Rockland counties published on The Journal News' website.

Its a perfectly plausible inference and should be investigated.

Well, they could be like CNN, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, Time, Newsweek, the NYT etc. and just make news up as they go along according the the particular agenda/cause activist focus of that particular news cycle.

According to the traditional NRA talking points, the reason nobody burglarizes me is because burglars think that I might have a gun, and therefore stay away. This illustrates the reverse is true--if somebody knows you have a gun, you are more likely to be targeted--crooks like to steal guns.
