Romney issued the following statement: "My family joins me in congratulating President Obama on his upcoming inauguration. It's his day and my family and I will be watching him together. We wish him the best."
Instead of, "he probably won't even watch it on TV."
Yeah, a number of indicators point to the possibility that Romney is just a sore loser. This is just the latest.

Hey, The Spirit didn't lie about Romney being President. He can still be President after the Millenium, or in the Spirit World.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen
I recall reading this absolutely daft article about how America really lost out when it did not elect Romney--as though he was really just too good for the country and we had essentially judged ourselves by not electing him. If I recall correctly, DCP linked to it with predictable approbation.
I found the entire thing ludicrous. It is not that I don't believe Romney possessed some important qualifications for the job. Surely he did. The problem with this idea that somehow America blew it, and not Romney, is that the errors that cost Romney the election were Romney's. It is not the American public that ran a terrible campaign littered with unforced errors and boners.
Mitt Romney was ultimately responsible for the never-ending farce of the Romney campaign. It wasn't some kind of dark conspiracy that drove him to refuse to share his tax returns, refuse to discuss his Mormonism in any substantive way, etc. It wasn't the forces of Satan that had him rely on bogus statistics, underestimate his opponent so seriously, or throw his ground game. Romney is responsible for these things.
So, if Romney made so many stupid mistakes in his campaign, so many errors in judgment, just why should we believe that he would have been the phenomenal president we missed the blessing of enjoying because of our shortcomings?
Yeah, right.

But unlike most losing candidates, Romney has no real ties to D.C. The last two losers were McCain and Kerry; I think they were both senators. It makes sense that a sitting senator would attend.
You're right, most, if not all, of the previous attenders were in the Senate or out going vice presidents. But hey, who has a friend say "I'm going to ignore it."
We should start a political PR firm.

Yeah, the friend's comments made him sound pretty bitter. Soreloserman.

Ahhh more sweeetahhhh sauce to pour on my buffet of Mormons weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth!
Up to this point in life, Romney got just about everything he ever wanted because he had the money to buy it.
Not ta'day!
Good thing his kids hid the keys to all of his sports cars... I am sure he was drinking heavily.

Ann Romney wrote:By all accounts, the past month has been most difficult on Romney’s wife, Ann, who friends said believed up until the end that ascending to the White House was their destiny. They said she has been crying in private and trying to get back to riding her horses.
Was Ann practicing riding her horses for the inauguration with Mitt? You know when he expected to ride his white horse into the White House?

Romney is the first loser since Dukakis not to have a government role relevant to the inauguration. McCain and Kerry were sitting US senators. Gore and Bush I were part of the outgoing presidential administration.

So maybe he wasn't invited?
