I think you are confusing The LDS Church's tithing generating Temples and Wards with things as simple as actually helping the poor. The prior have given us nothing of insight and the latter would actually be worthwhile. If these "prophets and apostles" were the heroic leaders they pretended to be, they would have advocated that the billions of dollars wasted on Temples, Ward buildings, "I'm a Mormon campaigns" and the City Creek Center be put to helping the destitute instead which would be much more productive.

Bigot? You will have to explain that. Who am I being bigoted against (or for)?

I am aware of the nature of this board. If this were a dating website my wife would be very unhappy (at least I hope she would). I think I've been here a bit longer than you and I have never put anyone on ignore and I don't think anyone has put me on ignore.

If you haven't noticed, most of the people on this board get along pretty well. We disagree on many things, but we enjoy the discussion. Usually, the people posting here have some idea of what they are talking about (however tenuous). You seem to pull your opinions from the nether regions without any knowledge or research and then defend to the death your foolish point of view.

Think about it.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

son of Ishmael,

I think Hasa would like to pretend that I disagree with him. I do not.

Well, oh goodie for you. You have turned a forum on Mormonism into your own personal socializing and dating site.

I think you believe I'm necesssarily here for the same purpose or share similar goals with yourself. After having had many discussions with you, I think you should be well aware that isn't always true.

Now, I want you to think for a moment here. Do you really think I would have made the post (all Droopy like) I did on this thread and taking the position I did if I didn't want it to be controversial and cause a reaction?!? I personally don't have anything against astronauts or what they do. I've met a few and they've been pleasant enough (and I don't remember any of them running over my dog either). In fact, later in the thread I agreed that Dr. Sally Ride was inspirational.

Anyway, that was why I made the post I did. I also don't like group hugs if you must know.

Tobin,

What if you were to learn that the space alien that visited you and got you back into religion died, and the conservative ruler of his home world honored him with the equivalent of what we know as the medal of honor? Would you think that it was a waste?

I would hope that when we have advanced to the point that they have and can reach other solar systems, we would have already solved the problem of mortality. In fact, it is probably a necessary step to do so.

Tobin,

If you have ever stated your chronological age on this board, I missed it. Based on your writing, however, I have to tell you that my estimate of how old you really are continues to move toward the younger end of the scale.

You claim to have me on ignore, so in your absence, I will throw the question out to the board.

Does anyone know how old Tobin is?

If you don't know, what would be your guess as to his age, based on his knowledge, general attitude and personality, as reflected in his writing on this board?

Please feel free to speculate on either chronological age or emotional/intellectual age, whichever you feel most appropriate in characterizing our young friend.

I was thinking exactly the same thing after reading Tobin's comments on this thread. I had always assumed he was an adult of some years. Now, I don't, and, in fact, suspect the opposite.

Welcome to ignore Elphaba. I have no interest in reading quotes from DrW ever or others who engage in his childish behavior.

You've put our sweet Elphaba on ignore? Gosh Tobin, you must be getting close to talking only to yourself. Maybe that's how you like it.

In answer to DrW, I'm guessing an immature 25.
