In the face of madness, rationality has no power - Xiao Wang, US historiographer, 2287 AD.

Every record...falsified, every book rewritten...every statue...has been renamed or torn down, every date...altered...the process is continuing...minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Ideology is always right.

How do we really know the First Vision was his 1st vision? I mean with a memory so bad, maybe he had other visions that he just forgot about or conflated with this one.

7 I was at this time in my fifteenth year...

If you start counting your first year at birth where age 0-1 is your "first year", wouldn't this make your "fifteenth year" age 14-15 (14-14.999)?

For example the vision of the four being in the temple at Kirtland, Ohio, April 3, 1836. (D&C 110)
1. The Lord Jehovah who said "I am your advocate with the Father"
2. Moses who led the ten tribes from the land of the north
3. Elijah the prophet
4. Elias the translation error of KJV

This four can be mistook with Jehovah and Elohim...

- To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei

I know why Darth is asking how old Joseph was at the time of the First Vision. He is laying a trap to accuse
Joseph of engaging in underage prophecy. Well it won't work!!! The age of prophecy was much younger back
then and any argument to the contrary is just and exercise in presentism.

14 year olds where more mature due to the rigors of frontier life, and if they misbehaved their Pa would take them out
behind the barn and apply a switch to their behinds.

It is perfectly understandable that since Joseph Smith possessed meager math skills his dating schemes were slightly off when he recorded his reminiscences of the past, many years after-the-fact. There is nothing nefarious in Joseph Smith correcting his own slight mathematical miscalculations. Once the date of the First Vision was correctly established it remained steady throughout many subsequent recitals.

I don't know about any of you, but if God Himself and Jesus ****in' Christ showed up during my Freshman year of High School you better damn well believe I could remember my own age... And I was only fair at Algebra and Geometry (Trig was my undoing)!

I am officially the 14-yr old Joseph Smith apologist.

He was 14 when the FV happened!

Bring it on!

That assumes Joseph is reckoning that way. He may have been trying for a more eloquent locution for "fifteen years old."
