North Carolina GOP welcomes back Jim Crow

Post by _MeDotOrg »

With many people focusing on the implications of Supreme Court's ruling on DOMA and Prop. 8, there has been little focus on the direct implications of the Court's gutting of the Civil Rights Act.

Many states have exercised their new-found freedoms by restricting voting in ways that have absolutely NOTHING to do voter fraud.

Case in point: North Carolina. During the 17-day early voting period in 2012, North Carolina Democrats cast 49 percent of the ballots; Republicans, only 30 percent. So of course now early voting has been eliminated.

And of course, Sunday voting, a strong tradition in black communities (after their members have gone to church) has also been eliminated. "Sunday's is the Lord's day", rationalized one of the bill's white supporters, conveniently ignoring what many black churches believe about Sunday voting.

None of this has anything to do with stopping voter fraud. It is simply reducing the times that people can vote, based on the increased Democratic turnout during those times. The sole intention of these restrictions is to reduce the turnout of non-Republican voters.

Welcome to Jim Crow 2.0, brought to you by today's GOP.

They didn't "gut" the Civil Rights Act of 1964 per se but only the clearly dinosaurian aspects of the Voting Rights Act that are no longer socially or politically relevant.

The only people upset by this are the Left and the Democratic Party, who's culture-wide welfare plantation and the racial balkanization that props it up could be weakened, at least symbolically, buy the ruling, and the poverty pimps feeding at the government defended and subsidized race hustling trough who's power, influence, and livelihood are directly threatened by racial harmony and general assimilation into the core aspects of the American experiment.

None of this has anything to do with stopping voter fraud. It is simply reducing the times that people can vote, based on the increased Democratic turnout during those times. The sole intention of these restrictions is to reduce the turnout of non-Republican voters.

Everybody can vote on the same day, at the same body of polling sites, and under the same general rules. Contra to what you are claiming, what the Democrats and the Left actually desire is "vote early and vote often" as the core principle governing elections. Numerous and proliferating voting times, spread out over days, weeks, and months are, indeed, a direct invitation to voter fraud, just as are weak ID requirements.

Welcome to Jim Crow 2.0, brought to you by today's GOP.

This is imbecility at a sub-retarded level. I take some pleasure in the fact that this represents the base and core of the Democratic party at its grassroots, and that the Republicans, if they can ever get their house in order, can exploit this kind of catastrophic intellectual weakness without cracking a sweat, if they so desire to learn the art of political war and apply its principles.

There is a peculiar mental illness in the right fringe of the GOP. They actually believe, in earnest, that there is widespread voter fraud happening, and that it's the only reason Democrats win.

The fact that there is no evidence of such fraud (or frankly, the fact that voter identity fraud would be a really stupid and ineffective way to try to rig an election) means nothing. They just know in their gut it's happening. It's Truthiness.

As I already Pointed out in a couple of Posts here, the Supreme Court's ruling on the federal Voting Rights Act is correct.

You may not know why this makes no sense at all, but it doesn't. The term "imbecile" was created as a measure of moderate mental retardation, along with "idiot" (the most severe level) and "moron" (the least severe level).

Of course, these terms are no longer used by professionals, and they have become tools for low-class insulters.

I just love how liberals make things up..... to try and call the GOP "racist".

1. Almost NO STATE "votes on Sunday". Thus to equate this as having to reduce the black vote is simply ridiculous. Further, I bet there are more WHITE churches, and they do the same thing. Thus, nothing like a little truth to LIE.

2. And eliminating early voting has nothing to do with race either, and effects EVERYONE equally, thus making it harder for anyone to vote, but it will certainly reduce fraud.

Please provide any documentation or studies that show that voter is fraud is increased because of early voting or voting on Sundays.

I repeat: During the 17-day early voting period in 2012, North Carolina Democrats cast 49 percent of the ballots; Republicans, only 30 percent. Do you think if those percentages were reversed the Republican controlled legislature would have eliminated early voting?

And again, please provide documentation showing that early voting and voting on Sundays increases voter fraud.

Heavens I really get tired of you people not reading.

1. I did not say the Sunday thing related to voter fraud, I said the early voting thing did.

2. Republicans don't engage in voter fraud, only Democrat's do, thus they may not have changed it because they wouldn't have had to. But, unlike Democrat's, we do things because it's the right thing to do, not because it will benefit us, thus if a law was causing voter fraud no matter by who, we would change the law.

It's not often that a point is illustrated so quickly and effectively. It's so gratifying it almost makes me misty eyed.

Geez, MDO, he's tired of you not reading. Get with the program already.

I did not say the Sunday thing related to voter fraud, I said the early voting thing did.

You see, if you would just read, you would realize that he just proved that voter fraud by Democrats is happening -- by telling you that it happens!

Besides, it's very easy to prove if I define voter fraud as "people voting that I don't think should have the right to vote."
