The funny thing is that it isn't even a terrible
original idea (well, possibly except for the part of the idea that was about replacing the names of the players on the jerseys for the entire season). The Utes did the same thing a few years back when they showcased a single-game special black uniform with camo highlights with such labels as "Service," "Commitment," "Duty," "Integrity," etc. Of course, in that instance it was in support of the wounded warriors project and was supposed to be a tribute to the military and the values of the military, not the core values of the U of U football program. I think it was also a requirement of the contract that the Utes made with Under Armour or something like that (I think other schools that had arrangements with Under Armour did something similar during the same year).
At any rate, the Utes wore the uniforms for a single game, and got absolutely drubbed by TCU, resulting in several jokes about the Utes not living up to the very values that were printed on the uniforms. They were terrible uniforms, but at least they were supposedly for a good cause. So BYU wants to do something similar to highlight the values of the BYU football team? Extremely lame, not to mention pretentious. I don't get why Bronco couldn't have seen this backlash coming, other than the most obvious explanation that he is an idiot.
