Well, considering how the BYU team looks for 2013, I'm guessing that if they mess up on the first BYU fumble of the game they'll have a chance to get it right the second time.

Or the third time ...

Or the fourth time ...

The funny thing is that it isn't even a terrible original idea (well, possibly except for the part of the idea that was about replacing the names of the players on the jerseys for the entire season). The Utes did the same thing a few years back when they showcased a single-game special black uniform with camo highlights with such labels as "Service," "Commitment," "Duty," "Integrity," etc. Of course, in that instance it was in support of the wounded warriors project and was supposed to be a tribute to the military and the values of the military, not the core values of the U of U football program. I think it was also a requirement of the contract that the Utes made with Under Armour or something like that (I think other schools that had arrangements with Under Armour did something similar during the same year).

At any rate, the Utes wore the uniforms for a single game, and got absolutely drubbed by TCU, resulting in several jokes about the Utes not living up to the very values that were printed on the uniforms. They were terrible uniforms, but at least they were supposedly for a good cause. So BYU wants to do something similar to highlight the values of the BYU football team? Extremely lame, not to mention pretentious. I don't get why Bronco couldn't have seen this backlash coming, other than the most obvious explanation that he is an idiot.

Utah to auction off uniforms for charity

If you were lucky enough to see the TCU-Utah game Saturday – thank you CBS College Sports channel – then you noticed the military-themed uniforms the Utes players were wearing.

The camouflage and black jerseys with words Duty, Honor, Courage, Commitment, Country, Integrity and Service replaced the players last names.

CBS will auction off the game jerseys on Nov. 8 on UtahUtes.com with 100 percent of the profits going to the Wounded Warrior Program.

However, they still have some regular black uniforms for when they are feeling a bit devilish.

Thain Daniels wrote:In defense of Hall, his family had been soaked with beer by Utah Fans the previous year If I recall correctly and they were subjected to a lot of vulgar insults etc... Not saying this justifies Hall. But context helps make more sense of his anger, in my opinion.

The unfortunate Hall family are apparently beer magnets. He claimed a couple of years earlier that Arizona fans had poured beer on his family during a game with ASU.

I also have to wonder about fans who would go to the trouble of smuggling beer into the stadium, only to waste it that way. I do see adult beverages making it into the stadium, but it's always something like vodka, small bottles of which can easily be hidden in a person's sock or underwear. Beer is so bulky, getting it past the bag-search checkpoint would be quite a challenge.

Ah. OK. An unoriginal bad idea.
