It's misnamed a freeway on the left coast. On the east coast it's called an expressway. Another misnomer. In the middle it's called the interstate. Not quite so bad.

Rumour has it that the AC/ DC song "Highway to Hell" was named for the A1. I've driven it. Getting close to London, I can understand why.
