But you won't. One in your position rarely does. You have left neutral ground.

Just another manipulative narrative on top of the dozens of manipulative narratives created in Mormonism. You might as well tell me that if I can't see the emperors clothes that it means I'm dumb. That is quite literally how transparent, stupid, and manipulative that sounds to outsiders.
Maybe, just maybe, it's just that people like to talk about, think about, and deconstruct the religon they particpated in for decades. Maybe when people have no outlet they'll choose a forum such as this to vent.
I have no respect for the demeaning manipulative narratives Mormonism creates about people who leave. It is the stuff of cults.

Excellent point. We should not forget Church surveillance workers nor tracker for our National Security Agency. Plus Google [Bot] is in the undecided category.

Mormons believe in floating resurrected caucasian native Americans who not only speak to their founder, but gives him plates made of gold.

They also believe that their founder could translate not just a non existent language, but actual Egyptian BEFORE the Rosetta stone made it to the US. Furthermore, even after it has been CLEARLY demonstrated and proven that the translation of the Egyptian by their founder is completely incorrect, THEY STILL BELIEVE he has magic powers to translate!

They also believe that their current president talks DIRECTLY with god.

They also believe.... shall I go on? You get my point..

Please explain to me HOW any sane, critically thinking adult would be willing to listen to such nonsense?

Would you treat an adult with dignity and respect who believes that Santa Clause is real and lands on peoples roofs to deliver toys?

Thanks, Craig, for your inputs to this forum. I have enjoyed reading your insights greatly, and hope to eventually hear from you again!
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Craig, if your intention is to convince believers away from their existing position then you will always end up frustrated and disappointed. Believers in Mormonism have a remarkable and unfathomable propensity to believe regardless of evidence or changes to evidence. If a complete disavowing of a racially discriminatory practice that went on for a hundred years and which was portrayed as doctrine by at least one First Presidency won't do it, or incontrovertible evidence that parts of the Book of Mormon came from the KJV Bible rather than Nephi and his plates, or that the papyrus isn't what the Church has claimed it was for a hundred years, or <insert other blatantly obvious evidence of the Church getting something significant really wrong>, then there really isn't anything that could possibly sway most believers.

Mormons believe in Mormonism because they want to, not because they have weighed up the evidence and been forced into the conclusion that the Church is more likely to be true than not. I firmly believe that Monson could stand up at Conference (or Uchtdorf etc) and proclaim that it is all a fraud and that they've been having it away with the tithing coffers, and members would still believe. There are posters on this board that cannot conceive of a set of circumstances where they'd be intellectually unable to continue belief in the trueness of Mormonisms foundational claim of being the one true Church.

If someone wants to believe in Santa, then they will believe in Santa, no matter what.
That said, with the Book of Mormon, we are not dealing with a civilization with no written record. What we are dealing with is a written record with no civilization. (Runtu, Feb 2015)

I enjoy your posts.

Perhaps your motives are misplaced. Commenting on Mormonism is about purging and excising the ignorant thinking from our own minds that we ex-members lapped up like sponges. I don't want to convince anyone that their religion is wrong. If a cave dweller believes that their dark, dank space is reality, who am I to argue?

Yes, I would treat any adult with dignity and respect no matter what their beliefs are and would expect to be treated the same way. I certainly wouldn't criticize their sanity in an attempt to bully them into changing their beliefs...

I'm open always and atm. I've been posting and lurking these boards for 4 years now and have yet to see anything that has shaken my faith. In fact during the time I have been coming here my testimony and conviction that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God and the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ has grown by leaps and bounds.

No one is open always. We all have our biases. I am sure many who know some of the evidences against a global flood, but believe anyways, think they are open always.

Not sure how this makes one more open. in my opinion members who maintain belief despite knowing much of the evidence are examples of the most biased. Much of the bias can come from incorrect beliefs about their spiritual experiences and where they originate.

Sure, take a break. I know how you feel. You can't convince anyone, you can only plant seeds.
