Here's how I look at it. My view may be extremely simplistic, but I see the failed War on Drugs® (in combination with the nation's dysfunctional justice system) as being the primary cause of gun violence in not only the US, but also in Mexico and in South and Central America.

And here's another aspect of the War on Drugs that troubles me--the low intensity warfare that was once contained in South and Central America is spreading northward. It has already spread into Mexico, which is now embroiled in a low intensity civil war. Within the next decade it will spread onto US soil..as is already the case in parts of Laredo, Texas.

How is it a rare thing for people to be transported to hospitals in cars?

Transported in cars to hospitals for what purpose? Routine visits, same day surgery, emergency status?
