Needy Las Vegas Friends, Update (For Quasi)

Post by _Doctor Steuss »

Since my reply would likely end up in Off Topic anyway, figured I'd save a moderator a step:

All is well right now, thank you.

There have been some temporary closures with a few shelters due to funding, but other than a few recent rainstorms, the weather has been beautiful. My wife and I are currently working on getting stuff together for an event to benefit refugees here in Vegas. I'm also trying to get in touch with a guy that used to do a lot of outreach to the people living in the tunnels. I imagine right now, after the rains flooded out the tunnels (and washed away everything that was in them), the tunnel community has to be in need of a lot of basic comforts.

Will let you know if there's anything in particular we end up needing. I might hit the MD family up in the near future for help purchasing cases of bottled water as the weather turns hot. Last year, just between my wife and I, we handed out over 1500 bottles of water. If I recall correctly, the downtown street crew handed out over 20K bottles on Monday nights.

Thanks Stu!!!

Remember, you are not hitting us up. You are giving us all an opportunity to feel good about ourselves by helping others. Let us know what you need and when you need it.

I'm sure Jersey Girl will think of a clever way to make your requests pass the mod's scrutiny in the Terrestrial forum.

Hugs back!
