Robert Byrd was about protecting the interests of labor vs. the coal companies. Most people in WV were ignorant to the tidal wave of illegal immigration that was approaching from Latin America and the problems it would cause for native born Americans.
Robert Byrd's policies on immigration and free trade are very similar to Bernie Sanders before he realized he needed the Latino vote in a presidential election. That being said, neither Robert Byrd nor Bernie Sanders were wrong about everything.
Trump is as obviously a big-government politician as they come. He's basically a populist Democrat on economic matters. You pledged your undying loyalty to Trump irrespective of anything else for holding the same kinds of positions Robert Byrd did.
Trump has never gotten serious about the border or protecting American jobs. He has used illegal labor and he has moved many jobs to other parts of the world. He gives no specific's on how he is going to deal with illegal immigration or protecting American jobs. It's just trust him, and like a sucker you are doing just that. Saying he will build a wall and make Mexico pay for it is just words without any substance. He doesn't address the costs of building and maintenance of a wall, or how he can realistically get Mexico to pay for it. We don't see him deal with areas where a river separates the two countries, or how a wall will be effective at keeping illegals out. You think being president is the same as being dictator. he's not even going to win the election and it's not because he said he would build a wall.
The mere fact that he proposed doing anything at all to stop illegal immigration allowed him to thoroughly trounce the establishment GOP in this primary. Ted Cruz came in second and he's no amnesty guy either. Jeb Bush went down rather quickly in spite of all big money behind him.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

He just said words, and others have talked about it and made more reasonable solutions with more specific's. It's just your racism that is driving your support of Trump. He hit that cord quite hard.

The establishment candidates weren't going to get any border enforcement with their plans and deals. They weren't willing to do what it would take and Republican voters knew it and voted accordingly this primary.

Wagner did not interrupt once, did not nod or show disapproval. For all the response he made, he could have been fast asleep. But that must have been his technique. I talked and talked. The therapy of the word. Then I waited for the word, his word, that would save me. Wagner stood up very, very slowly. Without turning to me, he came around his desk and went to the window. He looked out, his hands folded behind his back, absorbed in thought. In silence, for ten, fifteen minutes. Then, still with his back to me, in a colorless voice, calm, reassuring: “Monsieur, vous etes fou.” He did not move, and neither did I. After another five minutes, I realized that he wasn’t going to add anything. That was it. End of session. I left without saying goodbye. The secretary gave me a bright smile, and I found myself once more in Avenue Elisée-Reclus.

We should all be voting for Trump during this general election.
Only if you think ignorance and bigotry are virtues worthy of emulation. Honestly, I don't think Trump is really as stupid and ignorant as he makes himself appear to be. I really think he is deliberately appealing to the stupidest, most poorly educated and/or most bigoted of the American electorate in the belief and hope that they constitute a majority of those most likely to vote. I Suspect (and sincerely hope) this will be seen by enough voters as a deliberate insult to their intelligence, to cause him to lose by a massive landslide.

You seem to be suggesting that your own lack of commitment is an admirable quality when it comes to politics...yet, i find it easy to believe that you consider such a quality in a politician to be "typical", despicable, and a point by which to make exception for one's trust of said politician.

I was really shocked by this. Sandoval is usually pretty moderate/centrist as far as Republicans go. Reid (who has previously heaped praises on Sandoval) blasted him for this.
Interestingly (or perhaps not), Sandoval's people announced yesterday that he won't be attending the GOP Convention. They didn't give any reason for his decision not to attend. Perhaps that's his way of hedging his bets so he doesn't lose too many moderate Dems that have voted for him before... support Trump, but don't support Trump.
