The Cost of Trump's Business Interests

Post by _moksha »

Eric Trump just spent $100k for a business trip to South America — and billed taxpayers for all of itNathan Wellman | February 3, 2017

President Trump’s son, Eric Trump, took a business trip to Uruguay which cost American taxpayers $97,830 in hotel accommodations for Secret Service and embassy staff.

Eric Trump took the trip as a representative of the Trump Organization shortly before the January 20 inauguration of his father. The young Trump took meetings with real estate brokers, spoke at an “ultra exclusive” Trump Tower evening party, and dined at an open-air beachfront eatery.

In FAIRness, I don't believe he has the option to refuse Secret Service accompaniment.

True, but Eric should be required to reimburse the American people for his personal business expense.

True, but Eric should be required to reimburse the American people for his personal business expense.

Wouldn't it be fair to continue the tradition that previous administrations were afforded? Is it fair to expect him to simply sit in one place for 4 years so as to save money?

But the expense you mention isn't his personal business expense, his personal business expense appears to have been paid for by him. Much like how when I travel on personal business I don't reimburse TSA nor can I refuse their protection in order to save taxpayer monies.

Yep, for personal expenses...taxpayers, as with Trump, pay the secret service bill...how are you able to even get on the internet?

"While policy dictates that tax money does not cover any personal expenses, the cost of security has historically been placed on the taxpayer"
