While such an argument is academic, you should not forget that your 99-cents-for-every-dollar-equation does NOT include the expenses the federal government has for the federal employees in California, for the management of federal lands and parks in California, for the federal pensions in California, nor for the federal military protection in California.

the previously listed items that are paid for by the Federal Government are not included in your senile ramblings about Taxes paid vs Funding received (Federal Grants, Federal Assistance, Federal Contracts, etc)...so while an old man might take great pride in paying $1 dollar in taxes for every $0.99 received, there is a significant amount of money you are forgetting to include in the "received" column....ergo, the argument is as I stated - "academic"...or if you prefer, stupid.
