The NBA is probably the best major sports league as far as picking names for teams that make sense for the city. But then teams move and on occasion you get things like the Utah Jazz or Memphis Grizzlies.

I remember when I was in the Air Force and stationed in Texas, the BYU Cougars came to play the Texas Longhorns. The priesthood members in the local LDS ward organized a group outing to go see the game together. One of the Air Force members, who was not a native Texan, remarked how eager he was to go root for "Gods Team." One of the native Texan members said, incredulously, "You're really going to root for God's team?!? And all this time I mistakenly thought you were a BYU fan!"
