Re: Yet another tweet from President: Charlie Gard
Hopefully one day soon we'll figure it out so there will be no more Charlie Card's.

Re: Yet another tweet from President: Charlie Gard
Charlie Gard is, sadly, dead, and is no longer needs anything from anybody.
The parents, however, need the possibility of finding some kind of healing and peace. I say only the possibility, for that is the limit of hope in such a case: some parents who have lost a child never, ever recover from that in any real way. And sometimes the aftermath of the loss can even destroy a relationship.
Perhaps the money that was donated to fund that desperate project of a flight to the States can become the seed-money for a foundation to promote research into this terrible disease? Working on that might give the poor parents some sense of purpose, and even enable them to begin believing that their child did not die entirely in vain.

I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.

That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

I do hope they use the funds in the way that you suggested so that they can work in tribute to their son and have a sense of purpose.
I know from experience how difficult it is to remove a loved one from life support. Sometimes the greatest act of love is letting go.

I had to let my mom go. Time has healed the hurt of her passing, but I still remember her fondly for our good times together.
