How does a studied professor not realize the four rivers flowed OUT of Eden?

Nightlion, I'm impressed that you took the time to watch the video. If out of everything this is all you took from the video I think you are misunderstanding the point. The biblical description of Eden is wrong. One way or another. What is a bigger discrepancy, entire rivers that are missing, or directions getting mixed up? We're talking about a story that got passed around by oral tradition over many thousands of years.

Nothing supposed in the video is valid. The Epic of Gilgamesh is the apostate version of what those on the Ark already knew first hand before the flood. The apostates went to Mesopotamia. The faithful few did not amount to a culture so the world thinks civilization began between the two rivers.

None of the rivers from this guy's Eden encompass any land at all. They just run down to the sea.

by the way Jackson County is NOT were Joseph Smith said Eden was. Missouri was where Adam lived after he was expelled from Eden. So Eden is some distance WEST of Missouri. sigh

What do you mean by this?

Genesis 2
10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
11 The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
12 And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
13 And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

I do not think Euphrates, Ethiopia or Assyria refer to those familiar to us today. There were pre-flood names and Moses was providing the names that the Lord gave in the beginning.

Perhaps near present Battle Mountain, Nevada? Between the Tigris, Euphrates, Missouri, and Mississipi Rivers?

Eden was in the days before both the flood and the day when the earth was divided.....continental drift.

I doubt the reconstructions of Pangea are even close. Africa and South America is almost for sure. But with the flood spewing water up from the fountains of the earth with huge volumes of sand and the geological dissolution rampant both during the flood and when the earth moved to the present configurations of continents Eden is out of sight. Possibly with the Rocky Mountains piled on top of it.

D&C 133: 24
24 And the land of Jerusalem and the land of Zion shall be turned back into their own place, and the earth shall be like as it was in the days before it was divided.
