Trump Will Resign Before Face Impeachment

A Constitutional professor weighs in on the fate of President Trump, and a looming Constitutional crisis. A former adviser to all US presidents since Lyndon B. Johnson, (he's a nephew of his,) except for Nixon, George with. Bush, and now Trump. He predicts Trump will choose resignation over impeachment, to spare his children from criminal prosecution.

"[Trump's] likeliest possibility is [his] resignation, as a consequence of the criminal prosecution of his children. Whatever his policy goals, it has long been clear that creating a dynasty — having destroyed the two reigning political dynasties in the last campaign — is his greatest objective. Resignation, as remote as it seems right now, might well be a choice the President would make to save his children from prison, and himself from future prosecution.

Would the President pardon them? If he did, it would seal his impeachment and his own prosecution."

I think that, if Trump resigned, Pence would pardon him. I don't think that Pence would be impeached for that, but, as Gerald Ford discovered, there are consequences.

The Republican party rebounded after Watergate. Don't underestimate institutional resilience and public amnesia.

I am unsure which I fear most, Trumps willingness to use base manipulation or his supporters need to believe his promises.

Because Trump has the urge and tendency to ignore what his legal counselors and close advisors tell him to do, or what not to do ... I can see him fighting tooth and claw every inch of the way not to give up his throne - or ring of power.

Because of his recklessness and impulsiveness he could easily plunge this country into a confrontation with one of our adversaries or leave us vulnerable to their attack rather than relinquish his hold on the presidency.

Jared Kushner should resign or be fired. That's unlikely to happen without the Special Counsel's intervention. Once the wheels of justice lock into place he's going to be facing up to five years jail time unless Daddy Trump pardons him. Which opens Trump up to a can of worms as he faces his eventual prosecution post-presidency or impeachment proceedings.

Jared it's worth noting, is willing to throw Donald Jr. under the bus to save his own hide, same as his dad tried to do years ago in some real estate fraud scheme with his brother-in-law. His dad hired a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law which is how his dad ended up doing prison time himself. What a family.

I highly doubt Drumpf will resign. He's not that smart, and he's too much of a narcissist to do what's in his and his family's best interests. He fancy's himself a fighter, which is to say, he's willing to have a fist fight with a buzz saw.

This is why the Congress vis-a-vis the Checks and Balances system get him out before he can cause any more harm. The GOP won't until its hand is forced. It will be complicit along with Trump for inaction if it doesn't do something sooner than wait until it's too late to stop Trump from getting us into a doomsday scenario.
