Neil deGraase Tyson on American Currency
Neil deGraase Tyson pointed out the sad fact that, unlike other countries, the U.S.A. values scientific progress and the scientists that made it possible so little that no scientists are depicted on any U.S. currency, with the exception of Benjamin Franklin on the 100 dollar bill. Even with that one exception, there is no hint whatsoever on the bill of his notable contributions to scientific knowledge. Why does our country so little honor our great scientists (some of the greatest on earth) that none of them are honored for their scientific contributions on our currency like other countries often do for their own great scientists? Is this yet another result of the deplorable anti-intellectualism that plagues this country?
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Re: Neil deGraase Tyson on American Currency
how does a government endorsement on currency equate to how a country values science? In fact the US is in line with most other countries whereas only 1, if any, scientist (usually physicist) appear on a currency.

Typical liberal post where one wants notoriety for accomplishing very little if anything at all.
Tyson is a media hack and for you to cry "anti-intellectualism" based on this idiotic observation makes you a moron.
But to be fair, there aren't more scientists on money because there haven't really been any one scientist of particular significance for quite some time...having a kid's show is hardly tantamount to being Farady, Einstein, or Newton.

US currency used to be a lot more interesting and beautiful. Not just bills, but coinage too (especially the commemorative halves).
I wish they would bring back things like the Educational Series. Not only were they beautiful, but the portraits were relegated to the reverse, rather than the obverse like current bills.
The $2 bill in the series had a representation of Science presenting Steam and Electricity to Commerce and Manufacture. On the reverse were portraits of Robert Fulton, and Samuel F.B. Morse.
