She has "body integrity disorder." She's an able bodied person with a strong desire to be "disabled." Is it any wonder that social security will be bankrupt soon? Pay up ye working people. You've just inherited another dependent.

I was tangentially involved in the fly off between Lockheed's version and Boeing's version of that plane. I think that what the military was looking for was a newer version of the Harrier with more capabilities.

Boeing's version was based on the same, tested VTOL system as the Harrier and worked quite well. Lockheed's version was a totally new design based on a ducted fan in the center of the plane. I think they are still trying to work out the bugs. I think he Government chose Lockheed's F-35 because it looked a little sexier.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Society is rife with deeply-embedded prejudice and bigotry that feed tangible discriminatory actions at the public and private levels. Additionally, various institutions within the United States, governments, schools, businesses, long had laws and policies that sustained, fostered, enabled, and effectuated this discrimination. After hundreds years of such policy has helped create a society riven with dysfunction and prejudice, is it really justice for them to decide to simply wash its hands of the matter and adopt a laissez-faire attitude? In the sense that if you break something, you have a moral obligation to fix something. Even if we take as a given that a laissez-faire approach is ideal as an initial matter, any intellectually honest person would have to acknowledge that a situation created by hundred years of public and private policy pushing ideas, norms, and beliefs firmly in one direction creates a vastly different social environment than would prevail without that. People look at this and ask those institutions and individuals to counter-balance that with allowing preferential treatment of certain races to offset societal disadvantages created by this past and present situation.

I think there are people of all races who have been disadvantaged one way or another. When has any nation/society ever used reverse racism to correct for past racism? Egypt? Greece? Rome? I've yet to see England, Spain, or Germany make any claims, much less receive anything from Rome. What about Scandinavia, who liberals so deeply admire? Have they given any payback for how far they set back their neighbors during the Viking age? And why aren't African countries who actually caught and sold their fellow Africans into slavery in America funding any of this? What responsibility do they have in any of this? More recently the US certainly didn't help young southerners born to impoverished parents due to the Civil War. And yet, many of us as their descendants have built a lifestyle that is envied once again through work and family values. Lots of people need help. Why should it matter so much what race they come from?
