Trump Disrespects Gold Star Family AGAIN

After a Democrat Congresswoman leaked the fact that Trump told a grieving widow that her husband "knew what he signed up for," Trump took to Twitter to call the Congresswoman a liar and insisted he could PROVE IT. This was after lying about being the only President in history to contact family members of fallen soldiers.

And then the woman he allegedly disrespected comes out and confirmed that the congresswoman's account is dead on accurate and Trump disrespected her and her family.

WHY IS THIS GUY ALLOWED TO BE PRESIDENT???

Could you imagine the uproar on the Right had Obama said this???

I thought about posting this. Not only did Trump lie about Obama not calling fallen servicemembers, but he couldn't be bothered to remember the widow's husband's name. He was fumbling around with it.

I'm not outraged about this, though. I don't really feel outrage except when I'm driving on the interstate here in Utah.

Maybe later I'll come back to this thread and list half a dozen more examples of Trump crap ting on veterans, servicemembers, and demonstrating to the world he lacks the mentality, temperament, and emotional currency to be our Commander in Chief.

Then again, he might fit the bill for people who still support him. I believe it was Majax that bitched about servicemembers sponging off the government by earning a pension.

I don't remember complaining about service members drawing a pension. I remember you talking about the large number of service members who "tap out," and get on disability. I did complain about pseudo disabled service members who collect military disability, civilian disability, and still work a civilian job thus becoming triple dippers.

I suppose DJT could have assured the service members they would find the person who posted that offensive youtube video as Hillary Clinton assured the family of our soldiers left behind to be slain by terrorists in Benghazi.

Something that was on Rachel Maddow tonight, discussing the practice of writing letters to the families of fallen soldiers.

After losing a son in 1850, in 1862 Abraham and Mary Lincoln lost a second son, William (typhoid fever). They were racked by grief. After hearing that the daughter of his good friend William McCullough had been thrown into a deep depression after hearing of her father's death in battle, Lincoln wrote the letter below.

Executive Mansion,
Washington, December 23, 1862.

Dear Fanny

It is with deep grief that I learn of the death of your kind and brave Father; and, especially, that it is affecting your young heart beyond what is common in such cases. In this sad world of ours, sorrow comes to all; and, to the young, it comes with bitterest agony, because it takes them unawares. The older have learned to ever expect it. I am anxious to afford some alleviation of your present distress. Perfect relief is not possible, except with time. You can not now realize that you will ever feel better. Is not this so? There is an additional story tonight that, back in June, Trump promised $25,000 to the father of a grieving son, but never sent the check. So the White House issues an indignant denial. Fox News trumpets the headline:

White House Spokesperson Lindsay Walters said the check had been sent, and issued a heated rebuttal:

It’s disgusting that the media is taking something that should be recognized as a generous and sincere gesture, made privately by the president, and using it to advance the media’s biased agenda,”

Not mentioned in the statement was the fact that the check was not sent in June. It was sent today.

I think this is a minor scandal on the merits - something that should make you think "what a dick" and move on.

But it is hard to overlook how this would be an explosive outrage lasting months, if not years under Obama, Clinton, or probably any Democrat. Every week offers one or more of these "What if Obama..." moments of infuriating double standard, but this one seems to be in the sweet spot of a particularly egregious example because of the respect for troops angle.
