Re: This Anti-Evolution Video Almost Made Me Cry
I want to thank Rock Slider for the reference to a site that is trying to overcome the human tendency toward bias.

Ceeboo,
I'm still confused about the racoon?
http://collections.nmnh.si.edu/media/?i ... 36&w=12000
Where's this racoon in the progression?

That's better!

I love your responses, but they do show you have no real interest in learning the science and wanting to maintain beliefs like two very different looking animals could never be related.

Thanks Themis. I love yours too!

The science was already taught to me by my friend Xeno. Did you miss it? It's all explained in a post just above this one. Check it out and you can be scientifically literate like I am now.
and wanting to maintain beliefs like two very different looking animals could never be related.
Speaking of "wanting to maintain personal beliefs"
And because you keep insisting on sharing with me on the board, I wanted to return the favor and share something spectacular with you. It's a post I made on another thread a while back (No need to thank me, just enjoy).

You know, if you look really close, you can see some of the small steps of the evolutionary process starting to randomly take place here. Do you notice the nose slowly starting to migrate to the top of the raccoons head (perhaps a blowhole coming?) And I think I can see the raccoon's legs, when being hit by the ocean salt water waves (I mean garden hose mist
What do you think?
Do you see the beginnings of the blowhole?
Do you see what's happening when the ocean salt water (I mean the mist of city water from the garden hose
Can you see the steps I'm talking about?
(Just so you know Themis, this raccoon/whale thing has been (mostly with a few exceptions) a very light-hearted-inside board-smile generating thing for some time now - so please don't feel the need to continue asking me questions about it or trying to illustrate how superior your personal knowledge of evolution/science is.)
Peace,
Ceeboo

Ceeboo you are still doing the same thing showing your lack of interest, and I have never stated having superior knowledge or particular positions. I have asked some questions to see if you wanted to get real discussion going.

While I appreciate the offer, I'm not really interested in "real discussion" on the evolution of the raccoon-like creature to whale. I have had countless discussions in the past and I am currently very comfortable just using these past discussions as a catalyst for banter and mutual light-hearted smiles among my fellow human beings.
To be clear - I wasn't the author of this thread and I didn't introduce the raccoon/whale thing to this thread. It was introduced back on page one, by RI in a post directed to me (with intended light-hearted laughter that I greatly appreciate and value by the way) and I simply replied to him in kind.
If you are interested in having "real discussion" on the topic of evolution, please feel free to start a thread - I am confident that you will find folks who will engage.
Peace,
Ceeboo

Guilty as charged. I'm persuaded that Ceeboo understands that evolutionary theory doesn't say that raccoons transformed into whales. If he doesn't want to get into the weeds of an evolution debate, that's fine with me. The whale/raccoon thing has become a kind of a running joke, which is an opportunity for some fun banter. As a bonus, it gives Ceeboo a platform for his gif fu, of which I am in perpetual awe. I hadn't intended to provoke any kind of serious discussion of evolution. I'm pretty clear that Ceeboo isn't into that, and that's fine by me. Now if only Ceeboo had a gif of a raccoon and whale lying down peaceably like the lion and the lamb....

Do you remember when Ceeboo first learned how to do this? He's been like a child in a candy store ever since.

Light-hearted smiles among fellow humans? It looks to me you were toying a bit with Themis' emotion as he went:

Re: This Anti-Evolution Video Almost Made Me Cry
Hey Stem!
I never claimed that I considered Themis to be among my fellow human beings - I believe Themis is an example of an organism where several random mutations went drastically off course and resulted in a state of evolutionary malfunction. It happens!
Kinda like this:

Themis, please know that I am just playing around and the truth is, I do believe you are a human being. 100%

Ceeboo
