The deluge of information coming from the IG report that is new is dispiriting, though mostly just filling in the lines of what people paying attention already knew.

This Oct. 5th email from Comey to Brennan and Clapper, however, is maddening:

Not really; the report honestly vindicates Clinton. First it lays out pretty clearly that Comey was wrong to go public about her case the way he did (twice) but also confirms that not bringing charges was the correct call.

The hypocrisy of Comey blasting Clinton about her private email while committing the same sin was just a nice cherry to add to the top of the ridiculous email that EA had shared.

That's one of those things we already knew from previous reports, but this email shows that his analysis about the politics was garbage-level. Not only was he played by right wing media pressure and a misguided set of values, he also understood the underlying politics at a sub-538 level and based decisions on that understanding.

The Justice Department inspector general report released Thursday revealed more personal messages between FBI agents working on the Clinton email probe that suggest a cooked outcome.

The report released new messages from an FBI agent who was one of four case officers handling the “day-to-day” activities of the investigation, and one of two FBI agents who interviewed Clinton.

In one exchange in February 2016, the FBI agent, identified only as “Agent 1,” talked to another FBI employee about interviewing Hillary Clinton’s personal IT staffer. The FBI employee asked how the interview went.

Agent 1 replied: “Awesome. Lied his ass off.”
He continued: “Went from never inside the scif [sensitive compartmented information facility] at [Clinton’s residence], to looked in when it was being constructed, to remove the trash twice, to troubleshot the secure fax with Hillary Clinton a couple times, to everytime there was a secure fax i did it with Hillary Clinton. Ridic,”Lying to investigators is a federal crime, one that former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn is being charged with, as well as former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos. However, the FBI employee joked it “would be funny” if the guy was charged.
The FBI employee replied: “would be funny if he was the only guy charged in this deal.”
Agent 1 responded that even though he lied, “ain't noone gonna do s–t.”

He wrote: “I know. For 1001. Even if he said the truth and didn't have a clearance when handling the secure fax — ain't noone gonna do s–t”

The report revealed other exchanges that revealed Agent 1’s belief that the outcome of the probe was cooked, in text messages he sent to a fellow FBI agent on the case with whom he was also involved in a relationship.

He advocated against even interviewing Clinton. “We have nothing—shouldn’t even be interviewing”

He also messaged: “My god … I’m actually starting to have embarrassment sprinkled on my disappointment. … Ever been forced to do something you adamantly opposed.”
In a later message, he wrote: “done interviewing the president” in reference to Clinton.
The FBI agent sent a message to him on February 9, 2016, complaining about the investigative work she was being given. He wrote her back:

“Yeah, I hear you. You guys have a crappy task, in a crappy environment. To look for something conjured in a place where you can't find it, for a case that doesn't matter and is predestined.”
On election day, he sent her, “You should know; … that I’m … with her.”
He also called the investigation “the most meaningless thing I’ve ever done,” a “continued waste of resources and time and focus.”

“Its just so obvious how pointless this exercise is …” he wrote.
He later told inspector general investigators that he was “embarrassed” his messages were read and denied it affected his actions in the investigation.

“You know, guys, I just, I think this was primarily used as a personal conversation venting mode for me. I’m embarrassed for it,” he said.

Nine Takeaways From the Inspector General’s Report on the Clinton Email Investigation

Third, the IG broadly validates the investigation’s conclusion: to decline to seek charges against Clinton or anyone else. The report spends a number of pages detailing the prosecutors’ reasons for not recommending charges. The prosecutors told the IG of a host of reasons why they couldn’t establish the necessary criminal intent to bring charges under the relevant statutes. Not one of the emails in question had the required classification markers, for example. No evidence supported the notion that Clinton or the people sending emails to her knew the contents were classified. Clinton and her correspondents sent the emails to government officers in support of official business, and there exists no history of charging people under such circumstances. None of the subjects intended to send classified information to unauthorized parties or to store such information on unauthorized networks. The senders frequently refrained from using specific classified details, facts or terms in their emails. Mishandling of classified information at the State Department was such a widespread practice that it was difficult for prosecutors to establish specific criminal intent on behalf of Clinton or the other senders. The report concludes that prosecutors applied those facts to the relevant statutes and the Justice Department’s policies on those statutes in a sober and unbiased manner: “We found that the prosecutors’ decision was based on their assessment of the facts, the law, and past Department practice in cases involving these statutes. We did not identify evidence of bias or improper considerations.”

Despite this from the IG report, Hannity is still going to continue to talk about Hillary Clinton and be complaining about a two tier justice system. It has now been over 19 months since Hillary lost, and Hannity still can't let her go.
