“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.” ― Theodore Roosevelt

Any Conservatives want to explain why this is un-American and the President shouldn't be removed from office immediately?

Once upon a time, we used to have the Fairness Doctrine. The FCC did away with it in 1987. I think removal of the Fairness Doctrine helped build the climate of fear and anger that exists today.

There's a problem with the media and it's reporting.

It's un-American because it casts aspersions on an agency's right to say whatever it wants, short of slander or libel.
. . . and the President shouldn't be removed from office immediately?
Because he, too, is still allowed his own freedom of speech. . . in this case, to publicly speculate.

Well, Trump's problem is very largely that he would prefer it if all media were like Fox & Friends and its Trump-friendliest ... issues of quality, depth of coverage and balance in broadcast media may merit discussion, but Trump and his vague legal threats have no legitimate role to play in such a discussion.

When Trump talks like this, I think part of him is just saying he wants the fairness doctrine back because he's too dumb to realize how much doing away with it advantaged people like him. Of course, if he were to get it, then his authoritarian instincts would kick in and the continued existence of non-Fox and Friends level coverage would cause him to still demand censorship.
I did a little Googling, and it was interesting to discover that people have been jailed in the past for printing hostile comments toward or about the sitting President.
Note: I could see the entire article on my tablet, but from my PC there is a paywall. Bottom line is President Adams jailed journalists who criticized him.
There is no more consistent political tradition in America than presidents delegitimizing the press. In 1798, against the background of a possible war, President John Adams signed the Alien and Sedition Acts to criminalize his critics’ speech, notably that of newspaper and pamphlet proprietors who opposed him. President Thomas Jefferson, whose love-hate relationship with the press must have stressed his analyst, wrote in 1807, “Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle.” President Ulysses S. Grant had the press in mind when he concluded his second inaugural address this way: “Throughout the war, and from my candidacy for my present office in 1868 to the close of the last presidential campaign, I have been the subject of abuse and slander scarcely ever equaled in political history.”
President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who carried on a longitudinal war with Chicago Tribune publisher Robert R. McCormick, once admonished a reporter by giving him a dunce hat and instructing him to sit in the corner. At the close of a 1942 press conference, FDR handed a Nazi Iron Cross to a reporter and asked him to award it to a New York Daily News columnist who was in attendance and whose work he disliked. President Richard M. Nixon fashioned Vice President Spiro Agnew into his weapon against the press, dispatching him to assail the instant analyses the East-Coast-centric television monopolies directed against Nixon’s speeches.
So, I think I overstated what ought to be done with a President who is so overtly antagonistic toward bad publicity. It's shocking, in that I recall prior Presidents repeatedly affirming the Press' right to report freely and even critically. I also balk at a President taking these small baby steps toward authoritarianism. We have too many lessons from history that show these kinds of statements and small actions lead to bigger problems down the road.

Hey Doc, during your research did you happen to notice how many journalists Trump has put in prison and how many any previous President has put in prison? That would seem like a good distinction to understand your condemnation(s).

Where he suggested that criticism of him in the media "can't be legal" and said it should be "tested in courts" as a reference to his view that it should be lawfully restricted as a form of defamation. But hey, if the tweet said, "I, Donald J. Trump, call for censorship of media critical of me" you'd find a way to read that as benign, so why try to die on this hill?
