Church “Book of Mormon” video casting requirements...

Post by _I have a question »

As some of you will know, the distribution of the new Book of Mormon videos is way behind schedule.

Filming wrapped near Springville, Utah, for the second season of the Book of Mormon live-action video series. The multi-year project is being produced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to bring the stories of ancient-American civilization to life and share the teachings of Jesus Christ.

If the second season “wrapped” in June 2018 - where the heck are seasons 1 & 2 for people to see?

The Church began filming the project in June 2017 near the Church’s Jerusalem movie set in the central Utah community of Goshen.

“The biggest difference between this season and last season is last season's story is one long story. It was the story of Nephi's journey.

So where is it?

Well, it seems the producers are getting a bit desperate. Here’s the latest casting advert...

SHOOT LOCATIONS: Wasatch Front, Utah and Kauai, Hawaii.

SHOOT DATES: June or July 2019

Church Membership: Active, temple-worthy members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be given priority. However, due to the large number of Native Americans needed (North, Central, or South America, or Pacific Islanders), those less-active or not of our faith are also welcome to apply.

COMPENSATION: Paid.

ACTOR AUDITIONS: We are accepting submissions for male roles. Please upload your current acting resume to your online application and see below for further details.

Submission deadline: Immediately.

Is that for series 3, or have they “unwrapped” season 2?

We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')

The production of 2019 will portray the peoples of Ancient America between about 160 – 77 B.C. We will need adult supporting actors (mostly male) and background actors of all ages. Applicants may be of any ethnicity who physically resemble Native Americans of North, Central, or South America; or Pacific Islanders....

These characters' physical appearance will be based on what we know of the peoples of Ancient America: that they were descended from families who lived in the ancient Middle East and that their modern descendants are the indigenous peoples of North, Central, and South America, and the Pacific Islands.

Um... "based on what we know?" Did they not get the memo?

This is a major production meant to rival The Ten Commandments and The Lord of the Rings. The production cannot be rushed. It will be released to as many theaters as are willing to show it. Members will be encouraged to attend on a stake-wide basis, and as such, block purchases of seating is recommended.
