Two great men lost in Utah

About a week ago, my friend Florien Wineriter died in St. George.

This week, a friend's father, Boyd Jarvis, died in Salt Lake City.

Your post made me think of how much of a need there is to ensure people are not forgotten or lost to time who have had a great influence on us. It's a testament to their character that you memorialized them here even if it's just a small Mormon-themed message board in the vastness of the internet. At least here, we know one another's names. And now we know theirs and that they were meaningful to you.

It makes we wish we, as a culture, had a means of sending names to the gods and having peoples stories written in the stars; that if we all could say, "Let them always be remembered" or some other phrase it would catch the ear of the universe and it would take note.

There has been a practice of astronomical naming conventions that have recognized notable men and women by naming various features after them. Craters and asteroids are the most common examples.
