Polygamy

Post by _Maksutov »

The more I learn about polygamy the more it seems like Joseph was the head pimp.

What have you been learning recently...or reading recently...that would lead you to believe Joseph was "head pimp" and was simply a sexual predator? Would you be willing to share? You've come across the 'smoking gun' recently? Something above and beyond what has already been discussed in many venues of scholarship, published works, etc.?

You seem to have reached critical mass last night as you decided to start a new thread. Or were you just drinking a bit much?

Aw, what's wrong, MG? Triggered by the truth? Is that why all the lame attempts at ad hominems?

Did I ever say Joseph was "simply a sexual predator"? No, but you're throwing out the lies already, aren't you, lying for the lord just like Joseph. No, he was no mere sexual predator. He was also a fraud, a liar, a thief, a traitor, a terrorist and ALSO a huge sexual predator who taught sexual predation to others and convinced credulous and corrupt people that exploiting women was cool and even holy.

Whatever I put up you wouldn't read and you would instead respond with ad homs, deflections, diversions, whatabouts and any other chaff you could throw at the screen. It's what you have, who you are, demonstrated endlessly oh this forum. So don't worry about it. I don't know and don't care what you "know", "think", or feel because it will be whatever the brethren tell you it is. And I know more than enough about that.

The inspiration for the OP.

Mormon Discussion: 342: Nancy Rigdon and the Happiness Letter
There are multiple examples of Joseph Smith’s manipulation of vulnerable women in order to pressure them into a polygamous relationships. The Partridge sisters, Lucy Walker, Fanny Alger, The Lawrence Sisters. Today we share the story of Nancy Rigdon and the Happiness Letter. Nancy, Daughter of Early Church Leader Sidney Rigdon is a prime example of the mechanisms and manipulation that Joseph Smith would use on Young girls in order to pressure them into an intimate relationship. Joining me are Chris Smith and Jonathan Streeter as they run us through the data and help us get the full context of this story and its surrounding events.

Anything new in particular? Years ago I read everything I could get my hands on. Is there something recently, like I said earlier, that pushes you over the edge?

I might ask you, how much of this information in this particular podcast has its origins with John C. Bennett or his 'aides-de-camp' Francis M. Higbee, and Chauncey L. Higbee? And does that matter to you if it does?

Not going to answer the question, huh? When it's inconvenient to answer a serious question, just plug your ears and shout, "Cultist!!"

No, I haven't listened to this podcast. But does it help to know that I listened to most, if not all, of John Larsen's podcasts back in the day? He's come and gone. Dehlin has come and will go (I listened to most of his podcasts back in the day). RFM is here now...but it will someday be gone and along will come another voice to further act as opposition to the church and its mission. So it has been, and so it ever will be until the mission of the church is completed and the great Jehovah says, "The work is done." Opposition seems to be a force of nature.

Podcasts will not overtake the great stone that is rolling throughout the earth with the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. You'll die someday, the church will live on. The caravan will continue.

You can come back. What would it take? Would you have to repent?

Methinks you have been very selective over the years in what you've decided to pick and choose from the available material/evidence...pro and con...against the mission and calling of the prophets of the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times. I would also hazard a guess that the commandments of the church/gospel were not to your liking or did not meet your preferential inclinations.

And so here you are.

MG
