All of these numbers vary as they get reports at different times and update accordingly, but currently the US death toll is over 2,400. From March 19th the numbers were doubling every two days and it seems to have kept pace.

Great to have the board back, but it's a post eater for sure now. Second attempt.
USA went from 10k to 100k in 9 days, and that's a pretty straight line, and so it seems like 1 million (reported) cases is pretty certain nine days from now.
"zero" indicates the day at which the territory reported 20 cases. From 20 cases to 10k took Italy 18 days. NY and New Jersey took 15-16. Italy has significantly more deaths. It seems also to have higher percentage of positive tests -- was it spreading for longer before serious testing began?
Washington is at 26 days and still hasn't hit 10k. Did they get an early warning with the care facility getting hit right out of the gate? They had 30 deaths at 500 positive cases. NY had 30 deaths at around 5000.

But don't close down the border.
People can't afford to social distance in Latin American countries much less test everyone for corona virus. I can't really even afford it here in the US if this goes past April. The sad thing will be if we do flatten the curve through this enormous financial sacrifice we're making, it's not going to last more than until the end of summer given our unwillingness and inability as a sovereign nation to enforce the southern border.

The judge who opened the huge “Flores loophole” in border law is now pressuring federal officials to release more migrant children and youths from the government centers where they are temporarily held.

And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Border closures to prevent pandemics have proven to be useless. Trump is a moron who keeps lying about how many lives he saved by blocking travel from China and Europe. The virus was already here and we had community spread at that time. And his China travel ban wasn't even a full ban, and the screening for incomers amounted to nothing more than putting a thermometer in their mouths.

Re: COVID-19 Trackers
Now that we're two months in to this we have more data to offer a clearer perspective. Comparing COVID-19 to the H1N1 Pandemic of 2009, the first two months:
H1N1 Swine flu
April 15, 2009 — first infection detected
June 19, 2009 — 21,449 cases, 87 deaths
Covid-19
Jan. 26, 2020 — first infection detected
March 31, 2020 — 190,000 cases, 3,900 deaths
For those who keep calling this another mild flu, you need to get your head out of your ass.

Re: COVID-19 Trackers
We had two early warnings. One was the Life Care center. Looking back at their records, they likely sent a resident with COVID-19 to the ER back on January 29. The other was from the Seattle Flu Project. They had a bunch of samples in their freezer that had tested negative for flu. They put together their own COVID-19 test and found one of those old tests positive. That’s how we learned we had community Transmission going on. Also, folks started social distancing before it was even requested.Gadianton wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 12:20 amCan't seem to embed an image, so: broken down by state
