I'll just leave this one here:

"DanielPeterson Mod > gemli • 12 hours ago

gemli: "Slavery is abhorrent because I am a human, and it is contrary to a human's well-being and autonomy."

Dowsin' Dan: Quite a number of humans over the centuries have believed that owning slaves enhanced their well-being and increased their autonomy.

gemli: " It is "evil" because you wouldn't want to be a slave, and neither would I."

Dowsin' Dan: I wouldn't want to be a mine worker, either. Or a short-order restaurant cook. Or an airport bootblack. Or a migrant field laborer. Perhaps you too wouldn't like to be. But does that make the existence of mine workers, short-order restaurant cooks, airport bootblacks, or migrant field laborers evil? What makes slavery wrong? It can't merely be your or my personal distaste for being a slave."

Exactly. The point is that Peterson should be able to say why slavery is wrong. Instead, he's using it to play word games and to (try to) score points against Gemli. If he thinks that slavery is wrong, then let him explain why. I actually am willing to bet that he can't do it. I mean, think about it: how does the concept of slavery fit into his Libertarian ideology? Sure, everyone is free to profit as they see fit. And what if you can profit enormously by exploiting the labor of others?

Dan doesn't know what his position on "why slavery is wrong" is. So you are right: he can't do it.

Is it because God said so?

Is it because 'oughts' are out there in the air, separate from the physical world but an objective part of reality, and there happens to be an 'ought' that says slavery is wrong?
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

Just remember, according to Daniel Peter$on, African Americans should be grateful for slavery because now they get to live in God’s country.

Also according to Peter$on, Native Americans should be thankful for the European invasion/genocide because just look at all the freedoms Native Americans now have as a result.

I am hard-pressed to find an individual more racist than Peter$on.

I'm sorry but the name of the Washington professional football team just needs to change. I don't care what kinds of excuses are made about it. Let's just be done with it and move on.

ETA: And by the way, I was a huge fan of this team as long as I remained interested in professional football. It was the closest professional team to my hometown.

I feel the same way about any team that bears the name of (or any slang or slur-like reference to) an indigenous people that has suffered at the hands of colonizing whites.

The only teams that should be allowed are amateur and school teams that come from majority Native American communities. Where THEY get to choose how they represent themselves.
